Insight Global is searching for an experienced High Energy Laser (HEL) Systems Engineer to support the development and deployment of next-generation directed energy solutions with a client supporting the DOD. The Chief Engineer will:• Design, develop, and integrate high energy laser systems and subsystems.

n

• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams including optics, electrical, mechanical, and software engineering.

n

• Develop and maintain system-level requirements, interface documents, design specifications, and test plans.

n

• Support technical reviews and provide clear communication to internal teams, partners, and government stakeholders.

n

• Identify, track, and mitigate technical risks across the program lifecycle.

n

• Contribute to test planning, system validation, and data analysis from lab and field events.

n

• Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge sharing within the technical team.

n

• Stay current with trends and advancements in HEL, directed energy, and related defense technologies.

n

• Support proposal efforts and technical solution development for new business pursuits.

Skills and Requirements

n

Top Secret Clearance

n

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Physics, or a related field

n

10+ years of experience in laser system design, development, and integration.

n

Strong background in laser physics, optical engineering, and systems engineering principles. Masters or Ph.D

n

Familiarity with military standards, test protocols, and system qualification processes.

n

Proficiency in optical modeling and simulation tools (e.g., Zemax, FRED, Code V). null
