JOB SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE: n

Supplier Quality Engineer plays a key role in developing and managing manufacturing supplier quality. This position works closely with suppliers to ensure performance improvements, process control implementations, and adherence to quality assurance standards within PPAP and FAI frameworks. The role requires a thorough understanding of manufacturing processes and the ability to engage suppliers in quality and process development initiatives.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    n
  • Lead supplier quality initiatives and collaborate with cross-functional project teams.
  • n
  • Evaluate and improve supplier manufacturing processes and process controls.
  • n
  • Interpret technical drawings with GD&T in mind, providing feedback to ensure manufacturability.
  • n
  • Apply measurement systems analysis (MSA) for process validation and development.
  • n
  • Develop Receiving Inspection Control Plans and ensure robust inspection methodologies.
  • n
  • Support 'Free Pass' supplier status decisions with strong quality performance records.
  • n
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action processes using 8D methodology.
  • n
  • Manage supplier resourcing efforts and apply preventive tools in early project stages.
  • n
  • Maintain Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) database and scorecard metrics.
  • n
  • Collaborate with sourcing and engineering teams for supplier localization and performance management.
  • n
  • Maintain effective communication with all suppliers through scorecards and performance feedback.
  • n
  • Support sourcing initiatives especially within regional supplier networks.
  • n
  • Assist on cross-functional projects as needed.
  • n

QUALIFICATIONS/ABILITIES:

n
    n
  • Strong analytical skills with DoE, Control Charts, and statistical tools.
  • n
  • Effective time management and multitasking capabilities.
  • n
  • Excellent presentation, coaching, and negotiation skills.
  • n
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • n
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and networked computing environments.
  • n
n

EXPERIENCE EDUCATION:

n
    n
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical field.
  • n
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a Supplier Quality Engineering role within manufacturing.
  • n
  • Experience in metal machining, stamping, casting processes.
  • n
  • Familiarity with ISO, or related QMS standards.
  • n
  • Involvement in PPAP processes and new component development.
  • n
n

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • This role operates within a collaborative office setting with computer-based tasks and production floor involvement.
  • n
  • Travel to supplier locations may be required.
  • n
