Accountant II

The Accountant II is a vital contributor to the organizations finance team, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across accounting functions. This role is responsible for reviewing accounts payable activity, validating coding of transactions, and assisting with the preparation of financial statements and audit schedules. In addition, the Accountant II provides guidance to entry-level accounting staff, encouraging professional growth while maintaining a high level of accuracy and consistency within the department. Success in this position requires strong technical expertise in accounting systems, Microsoft Excel, and GAAP, combined with solid problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills. Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Analysis Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements as well as consolidated reports. Evaluate expenses, revenue trends, and obligations to support forecasting and business decisions. Accounting Operations Participate in month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and account review. Manage accounting for operating expenses, fixed assets, acquisitions/disposals, and depreciation schedules. Leadership & Internal Controls Serve as a mentor and reviewer for Accountant I team members. Monitor accounts payable processes to ensure policy compliance and adherence to audit requirements. Approve payables and validate accuracy of transaction coding. Requirements Qualifications Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and accounting software. Strong background in financial reporting, audits, and reconciliations. Demonstrated ability to analyze data, solve problems, and stay organized. Effective communicator with leadership potential. Preferred Background Experience supervising or mentoring accounting staff. Familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance is a plus.
