Class A CDL Driver -- Local Driving -- Home Every Night
We are seeking a skilled Class A CDL Driver to operate vehicles equipped with a semi-trailer or pull trailer with two or more axles and a mounted forklift. Your role will involve safely delivering bulky and heavy lumber products in accordance with DOT regulations. You will be tasked with ensuring deliveries are timely and damage-free. Responsibilities
Operate vehicles with a semi-trailer or pull trailer mounted with a forklift. Safely deliver bulky and heavy lumber products according to DOT regulations. Adhere to assigned deliveries and credits, checking load-related documentation for completeness and accuracy. Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods. Maintain driver forms and logs (ELD) as per DOT regulations. Maintain high activity and productivity levels with a focus on urgency and efficiency. Address and resolve customer issues as appropriate, informing dispatch of any outstanding issues related to deliveries. Check vehicles to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment are in good working order. Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicle. Haul wall panels, roof trusses, and door panels to job sites within a 150-mile radius. Use a forklift to unload deliveries when necessary, or coordinate unloading with job site personnel. Essential Skills
Current DOT certification and valid, unrestricted Class A CDL license. Minimum of 1-year driving and delivery experience. Forklift experience. Ability to work morning/evening hours during the week, including required weekends and overtime. Maintenance of regular attendance. Additional Skills & Qualifications
2+ years of driving experience preferred. 1+ year experience with lumber or other construction materials and tools preferred. 6+ months of face-to-face customer service experience preferred. Ability to read and interpret delivery tickets. Work Environment
This position is based in a lumber yard warehouse, which is non-climate controlled and can be dusty. You will haul wall panels, roof trusses, and door panels to job sites within a 150-mile radius using trucks such as a 2015 Peterbilt manual and a 2022 Peterbilt automatic. You will work independently and report to management. The dress code includes jeans, steel-toed boots, and layers as needed. The hours are from 7 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, with the benefit of being home every night. Pay and Benefits
