Duke Recreation and Physical Education is seeking a full-time Aquatics Coordinator to join our Aquatics & Risk team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a high-impact instructional program and support a dynamic staff of instructors and student workers within a collaborative, mission-driven environment. You'll take the lead on all swim program operationsmanaging instructor schedules, supporting swim assessments, setting up programs in Fusion, and helping elevate the participant experience across all group and private lessons. You'll also supervise the part-time Aquatics Supervisor and all swim instructors and play a key leadership role in staff development. This role does not carry budget responsibilities but will work closely with the Director of Aquatics and Risk Management on strategic planning and operational coordination. Preferred Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. At least 1 year of experience in aquatics programming, instruction, or operations. Two years of Graduate Assistant experience will be considered one year of professional experience. Current certifications in American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, and First Aid. Supervisory experience with student or part-time staff in a recreational or educational setting. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in recreation, sport management, education, or a related field. American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification. American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Trainer (WSIT) certification. American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) certification. American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Trainer (LGIT) certification. Experience with Fusion, WhenToWork, or other scheduling and recreation management platforms. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated commitment to inclusion and staff mentorship. Other Requirements: This position is onsite and requires a flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed to support programming. Must maintain required certifications or obtain them upon hire. Lead participant communication, swim assessment coordination, and weekend planning. Collaborate with the Director of Aquatics and Risk Management to ensure smooth facility operations and staffing support.
