Director of Estimating Role (Public Works) Join a Southern California public works contractor that is winning more work, expanding market share, and building the kind of workplace top performers want to stay in. This is a chance to be the Chief Estimator for a company that is growing while taking care of its people: Objectives – First 12 Months Win flagship projects in the $5M to $50M range that enhance the company’s market position. Elevate team performance through mentoring, training, and clear accountability. Expand and diversify the subcontractor base to improve bid coverage, pricing competitiveness, and execution readiness. Implement scalable digital tools and streamlined processes to cut bid preparation time and improve accuracy. Partner with executive leadership to align estimating priorities with long-term revenue goals and position the company for the next stage of growth Qualifications Public Works Experience :
10+ years estimating public works and institutional vertical building projects in Southern California, including schools, civic buildings, and other government-funded facilities . Team Leadership : Managed a team of at least four estimators with the ability to mentor and train others. on the complexities of the hard-bid process while building trust and driving accountability. Subcontractor Network: Deep knowledge of the Southern California labor market with strong relationships across trades to secure competitive pricing and a reliable bid Operational Presence : Able to be in Orange County daily and on job sites as needed for leadership collaboration, pre-bid meetings, and oversight of estimating operations. Process and Technology Skills: Proficient in estimating software and workflows with a track record of improving processes, adopting new tools, and increasing bids accuracy and efficiency. Education: A Bachelor’s degree is highly preferred. Seniority level
