ABOUT THE ROLE
The Senior Manager, Seniors Housing Operations (SHO) Accounts Payable is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the end-to-end accounts payable function across the SHO platform. This includes managing invoice processing, payment execution, vendor relationships, expense allocations, and compliance with internal controls and financial reporting standards. The role will lead a team of AP specialists, drive process efficiency through automation and KPI tracking, and collaborate closely with operating partners and internal departments.
The ideal candidate has strong leadership experience in real estate or healthcare accounting environments, excellent systems knowledge (Yardi preferred), and a track record of improving AP performance through operational best practices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee the accounts payable process for SHO operations, ensuring timely, accurate, and policy-compliant processing of all property-related invoices and payments.
Lead, coach, and develop a team of accounts payable specialists, fostering a culture of accountability, process ownership, and continuous improvement.
Collaborate with operating partners and internal stakeholders to ensure appropriate invoice routing, timely approvals, and efficient resolution of exceptions.
Monitor and report on AP KPIs (e.g., time to approve, speed to pay), identifying bottlenecks and implementing improvements.
Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with SOX requirements, US GAAP, and company policies.
Partner with the SHO Property Accounting and Finance teams to ensure accurate accruals and financial reporting of operating expenses.
Oversee vendor onboarding, maintenance, and communication to ensure accurate data and efficient support.
Support internal and external audits by providing organized documentation and responding to audit inquiries.
Lead or participate in system enhancements, automation initiatives, and process improvement projects across AP and broader accounting operations.

TRAVEL
Minimal to no travel expected for this position.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Experience:
7+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity overseeing accounts payable.
Experience in property management, real estate, or healthcare industries strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of accounts payable processes within real estate, healthcare, or REIT industries.
Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a high-performing team in a fast-paced environment.
Track record of driving process improvements and leveraging automation tools.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
Proficient in financial systems, with a preference for experience in Yardi or similar ERP platforms.
Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and organizational accuracy.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
CPA or equivalent certification is a plus.
