Future Salary Increases:
June 2026:
4.57% increase to base pay (3.5% Across-the-Board + 1.07% Market Adjustment) June 2027:

New Hire Lateral Incentive Pay:
Candidates with experience as a Civil Engineer in a public agency are eligible for up to $5,000. Engineer Premium:
5% applied to time worked. Recruitment Bonus:

This recruitment aims to establish a six-month eligible list for current and future vacancies in the Department of Public Works and Planning & Development Services. The Civil Engineer role is a journey-level class with opportunities for growth within the series, including positions like Assistant Engineer and Senior Civil Engineer. Pre-employment medical screening occurs approximately three days after background clearance. Start date depends on medical clearance and mutual agreement. Registration as a Professional Engineer by the State of California is required. Experience in water and wastewater infrastructure is highly desirable.
