Riseupforautism
Outreach and Family Support Specialist
Riseupforautism, Chicago, Illinois, United States, 60290
At Rise Up for Autism, we are committed to creating a workplace where every individual's skills and potential are valued. Rooted in the principles of merit, openness, and inclusivity, we strive to ensure access to opportunities for everyone. This role embodies those ideals, offering the chance to grow, lead, and make a meaningful impact through your unique expertise and abilities.
As an Outreach Coordinator, you will play a vital role in supporting families of children diagnosed with autism. You'll guide them through the onboarding process, help them understand our ABA therapy program, and ensure they feel welcomed and supported from the very start. You will also identify and apply for grants to reduce financial barriers, represent Rise Up for Autism in communities across Illinois, and build connections with doctors, therapists, schools, and other stakeholders to expand access to care.
This position is highly interactive and relationship-driven. You'll work closely with families during their intake journey, schedule tours and evaluations, and assist with paperwork to create a smooth and supportive process. During open enrollment periods, you'll help Medicaid-eligible families navigate Affordable Care Act insurance options. In the community, you'll attend events, resource fairs, and outreach opportunities, while also conducting visits to local providers to share information and raise awareness about our services. Your ability to maintain knowledge of insurance processes, community resources, and autism-related services will make you a trusted guide for families.
To thrive in this role, you'll need strong communication skills, professionalism, and a warm, approachable style that builds trust with families and partners alike. We require bilingual fluency in English and Spanish, as many of our families rely on this skill for effective communication. The role also requires reliable transportation, as you will frequently travel to community partners and events. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks are key, as you'll balance family support with outreach, grant applications, and reporting. A background or familiarity with autism, ABA therapy, or healthcare processes is strongly preferred, as it will help you confidently share information with families and community partners.
In return, we offer a supportive workplace that values inclusion, growth, and collaboration. Our team is passionate about the work we do, and we are excited to welcome someone equally motivated to make a difference. Full benefits are offered, including paid holidays and vacation, medical, dental, and vision insurance, short-term disability, life insurance, and retirement benefits.
At Rise Up for Autism, we believe in a skills-first approach to recruitment and employment. We focus on what you can do and how you can grow, rather than traditional metrics alone. We are committed to inclusion, equity, and removing barriers so that all individuals can thrive here.
