Federal Work Study Program
(FWS) is a federally-funded financial aid program offering subsidized part-time employment to eligible students to help cover educational and living expenses. CCC complies with the Department of Education’s regulations, ensuring students benefit from this opportunity. PRIMARY OBJECTIVE The FWS program aims to help students gain experience in their fields by placing them in relevant departments and areas aligned with their studies whenever possible. Students can use their wages for educational and living costs. FWS jobs are available in academic departments, laboratories, libraries, administrative offices, student centers, and off-campus locations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Assist Spanish-speaking students in navigating equipment in the main computer lab. Basic computer and hardware skills are a plus. Inventory management experience is desirable. Flexible scheduling options are available. Maintain excellent time management and work ethic. Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills. Provide professional demeanor and excellent customer service. Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Eligibility Requirements: Applicants must be 16 years or older, have work permit consent, and be eligible to work in the U.S. Must be actively enrolled at one of the City Colleges of Chicago. Must be enrolled in at least 6 semester hours of pre-credit or credit classes. Must pursue an approved educational credential, degree, or certificate. Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 (waived for first-semester students). Be in good standing with no academic restrictions. Not be a current employee of City Colleges of Chicago. Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or actively pursuing a GED at City Colleges of Chicago. Enrolled in at least 6 semester hours of classes. Approved for Federal Work Study through the Student Financial Aid Program. Successfully pass the CCC hiring process, including background check and drug screening if required.
