POSITION SUMMARY
The Executive Director (ED) is responsible for partnering closely with community volunteer leaders to build and execute an annual plan of work that addresses the unique needs of the arthritis community in their assigned markets. This includes revenue generation, special event fundraising, mission outreach, and awareness activities. EDs recruit, develop, and manage an effective volunteer leadership board and committees to achieve goals from the annual plan and manage high-impact relationships within the market.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the Arthritis Foundation's lead staff in their assigned markets to build empowered communities, deliver outreach, and increase awareness of Foundation programs and services.
- Develop annual and long-term plans with volunteers and staff, ensuring sound strategies for revenue generation, special event fundraising, mission outreach, and awareness.
- Implement and execute the annual plan, including planning events, raising funds, soliciting sponsors, and coordinating outreach.
- Recruit the right volunteers for key leadership roles and grow a diverse and engaged volunteer pipeline, fostering recruitment, recognition, training, and leadership development.
- Cultivate, steward, and enhance relationships with major donors, corporate partners, healthcare providers, and other key constituents within the market.
- Create a culture of philanthropy by building dynamic, impactful Leadership Boards and committees. Manage and develop a high-performing market environment of ownership, excellence, and tenacity where volunteers and staff are committed to achieving market goals.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree and/or a minimum of 5 years of non-profit or related experience directing staff and partnering with volunteers.
- Proven track record of volunteer stewardship, high-impact partnerships, and exceeding goals.
- Proficiency in sales and relationship-building techniques within a non-profit setting.
- Ability to relate and leverage the Arthritis Foundation’s mission into effective, sustained relationships and successful projects.
- Experience managing revenue activities, including special event fundraising, major gift solicitation, and corporate and foundation support.
