We are seeking a full-time
Software Engineer 1 - Java
in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for developing backend services for our fitness and outdoor products.
Essential Functions Develops and maintains Java-based services using Spring, Junit, REST, and relational databases. Experience with big data and Elasticsearch is a plus. Works collaboratively with stakeholders and other Garmin associates in cross functional teams to achieve goals and meet deadlines. Provides reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques Performs technical root cause analysis and outlines corrective action for given problems Apply a sense of urgency, commitment, and focus on the right priorities in developing solutions in a timely fashion. Estimates level of effort, evaluates new options of similar technology and offers suggestions to improve processes Supports working hours as part of a rotating schedule to provide on call support of Garmin's 24/7 operations Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering
OR
an equivalent combination of education and experience Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) Desired Qualifications
Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5) Demonstrated proficiency and experience necessary to develop software in Java, Spring framework, Spring Boot, JDBC, Kafka, Git, and Maven. Previous work or internship experience in design, particularly for consumer products
