Provides inspection, decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of instruments and other patient care equipment in accordance with processing guidelines, AAMI, AORN, TJC, and OSHA requirements.
nOperates departmental equipment daily according to manufacturer instructions with emphasis on safety.
nProvides customer service to all departments with a focus on the patient need.
nProcesses and documents all sterile supplies and equipment daily using chemical, biological and mechanical indicators to verify sterility in accordance with manufacturer instructions and hospital policy.
nMonitors and performs antimicrobial and disinfection solutions testing according to manufacturer instructions and documentation daily.
nMinimum Education High School Diploma or equivalent required.
nMinimum Work Experience Must successfully complete an extensive orientation within the first six (6) months of employment or have attended an approved Sterile Processing Technician Program.
nRequired Skills Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire and maintain thereafter.
nCBSPD certification as a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician within 18 months of hire and maintain thereafter.
nRequired Skills Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
