Job Title: Pharmacy TechnicianJob DescriptionAs a Pharmacy Technician, you will work closely with pharmacists to accurately prepare prescription orders, ensuring timely and precise dispensing of medications. Your role will involve a variety of tasks, including inventory management, medication preparation, and compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.ResponsibilitiesLocate the correct medication and strength to complete order picking.Prepare, count, label, and package pharmaceuticals for pharmacist approval.Purchase, receive, and coordinate inventory.Maintain and update inventory recap reports.Retrieve discontinued or expired medications from stock and handle them according to protocols.Maintain prescription logs.Accurately calibrate equipment and document calibration according to policy.Assist with the maintenance of pharmacy temperature and cleaning logs.Comply with safety, quality assurance, accreditation, legal, state, and federal regulatory requirements.Perform other duties as assigned.Comply with all company policies and standards.Interact with various departments to provide accurately dispensed prescriptions on a timely basis.Work under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.Essential SkillsStrong knowledge of pharmacy operations and medication handling.Excellent customer service skills.Proficiency in data entry.Experience with prior authorization processes.Additional Skills & QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent.2+ years of experience as a pharmacy technician or in a medical office setting.Familiarity with drugs commonly used to treat chronic or debilitating illnesses.Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred.Current Missouri Pharmacy Technician license or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.State pharmacy technician license(s) required upon hire, except in New York.Work EnvironmentThe work environment is a pharmacy setting where you will interact with various departments to ensure accurate and timely dispensing of prescriptions. You will work under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, adhering to safety, quality assurance, and regulatory standards.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Houston, Texas.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
