Work hours PRN as needed Monday Friday between 7 AM to 3 PM, usually 4-6 hours per day or an average of 19 hours per week. This is a part-time, temporary position that provides support and coverage to regular full-time home-delivered meals and Mobile Market Pantry drivers in Mecklenburg County. Duties include, but are not limited to, loading and unloading produce, boxes, and meat onto a truck, keeping shelves of the mobile pantry stocked during operation, and cleaning & organizing the truck after the mobile pantry closes. Work Location This is a field position where the driver will be delivering meals to seniors or helping with food distribution in the community through the Mobile Market Program. For both tasks, employee will be driving county vehicles. Employee will be reporting at 500 Spratt Street or at 3205 Freedom Drive, Charlotte NC depending upon the assigned task. Depending on assigned position, provides safe, efficient human service and general public transportation of passengers to and from their destinations in the Charlotte/County area or transports and delivers meals to homebound elderly. Essential Functions
For Senior Citizens Nutrition Program (SCNP) drivers: Understand and comply with traffic laws and regulations Drive pickup trucks/delivery vehicles over established routes in Mecklenburg County to deliver frozen meals to homebound elderly Deliver frozen meal boxes to 50-75 homebound customers each day Assure meal orders are accurately filled and loaded in trucks for delivery. Operate forklift and pallet jack, takes inventory of food and supplies, and receive a shipment of frozen meals and supplies (If Applicable) Maintain accurate trip records either on paper or electronically Operate a smartphone and uses a mobile meal delivery application and GPS features Minimum Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of one year of experience driving a commercial vehicle and an acceptable driving record per county standards. Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted? N/A Licenses and Certifications: Valid North Carolina or South Carolina driver's license Must obtain and maintain a Mecklenburg County Driving Privileges Annual Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check required Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with the Senior community. Previous experience loading & unloading trucks and making deliveries. Bilingual (Spanish and English) proficiency oral and written. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
