Job Description Salary: $21.35 - $42.70 per hour (varies based on experience) G.A. Rich & Sons is a family-owned company providing Commercial Plumbing, Process Piping, Site Utilities and Municipal Service throughout Illinois. We are seeking a full-time Plumber.
Membership in Plumbers Local 63 is required for this role. However, non-union candidates are encouraged to apply. If selected, you will be organized into the union in coordination with Local 63 leadership.
Pay will be based on how you place in local 63 based on your skillset, license, and testing. Local 63 wage rates are listed below: 1st year apprentice: $21.35/hour 2nd year apprentice: $25.62/hour 3rd year apprentice: $29.89/hour 4th year apprentice: $34.16/hour 5th year apprentice: $38.43/hour Journeyman: $42.70/hour
Benefits such as health and welfare and retirement will also be in alignment with local 63 guidelines.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Apprentice license required, plumbing license preferred Strong knowledge of Illinois State Plumbing Code Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the work including safety protocols High school diploma required Conducts oneself in a professional manner with responsibility, integrity, accountability and excellence Demonstrated ability to take initiative; always finds a way to be productive, takes pride in their work Works well as a team member; places the success of the team above self interest Demonstrated ability to establish and manage priorities within the allotted hours for the job Consistent trend of reliability; arrives at job site on time and ready to work Consistently demonstrates sound judgment in job responsibilities Asks appropriate questions, offers solutions to problems, effectively shares workplace concerns Must have ability to work with minimal supervision Proficient in reading blueprints
Essential Functions: Communicate daily with the supervisor regarding attendance, hours worked, and job progress Complete daily tasks efficiently within budget, safety, and quality standards Report any work or equipment safety issues immediately Assemble and install pipe sections, fittings, and fixtures using appropriate tools and materials Test pipes and plumbing fixtures by filling with water or air to check for leaks Review blueprints, building codes, and specifications to determine work details and procedures Inspect structures to assess material and equipment needs and plan installations around obstructions Keep detailed records of assignments and work reports Perform calculations and planning for complex or large-scale jobs Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes using hand and power tools Install pipe assemblies, valves, appliances, and fixtures such as sinks and water heaters Cut openings in structures for pipe installations and secure pipes with supports Repair and maintain plumbing systems, including replacing parts and clearing clogs Direct workers in pipe cutting, preassembly, and system installation Install underground piping systems and connect them to fixtures and plumbing Accurately complete time sheets and job documentation Maintain responsibility for assigned tools and equipment; report missing or faulty items Attend safety and training meetings and stay updated on industry trends Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
