Assistant Prosecuting Attorney

Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys work at the pleasure and direction of the Prosecuting Attorney to zealously and effectively represent the interests of the State of Ohio and Madison County, Ohio. Qualifications: Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio Must maintain twenty-four (24) hours of bi-yearly training with the Ohio Supreme Court Must be in good standing with the Ohio Supreme Court Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to): Perform any task assigned or requested by a supervisor Provide legal representation to the State of Ohio, Madison County, and all elected officials, commissions, boards, agencies, districts or departments of the County Provide legal representation to all Madison County townships, trustees and fiscal officers Attend all court proceedings at Municipal Court, or related misdemeanor hearings Attend court proceedings when other assistant prosecuting attorneys are not available Meet with law enforcement officers, victims and other witnesses to prepare for all court proceedings Work closely on each matter with Administrative Assistants and Victim Witness Advocates Engage in legal research Draft and file motions, memorandums of law, and other legal documents Represent Madison County before the 12th District Court of Appeals and the Ohio Supreme Court Prosecute all misdemeanor matters within Madison County, Ohio Review and execute personal, investigative and duces tecum subpoenas Community involvement and outreach on behalf of the Prosecutor's Office Provide legal advice to law enforcement on a 24/7 basis Perform civil representation regarding injunctions, forfeitures, small claims, evidence destruction and release, etc. To Apply: No phone calls.
