Job Description
ALSAC is seeking a visionary Principal Data Scientist to lead the development of our Marketing Mix Modeling (MMM) capabilities within a new Marketing Analytics and Data Science team. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape measurement frameworks, drive strategic planning with scenario simulation, and pioneer AI-driven innovations in donor intelligence. As a senior individual contributor, you will provide technical leadership , collaborate with external vendors in a build-operate-transfer model , and mentor junior data scientists.
Key Responsibilities
- MMM Capability Ownership: Lead design, validation, and improvement of MMM solutions, ensuring models are scalable, accurate, and aligned with business goals.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with marketing, finance, and media teams to ensure insights are relevant and actionable.
- Model Quality & Innovation: Champion data integrity, model validation, and stay ahead of industry trends in MMM, MTA, and causal inference.
- Testing & Experimentation Strategy: Design testing frameworks to evaluate model reliability before and after deployment.
- Integrated Measurement Strategy: Support the integration of MMM with other measurement approaches like MTA for a unified marketing performance view.
- Analytical Framework Development: Translate complex business challenges into structured analytical approaches, collaborating with stakeholders.
- Mentorship & Best Practices: Mentor junior team members and promote modeling standards and continuous learning.
Top Skills & Experience
- Advanced Modeling & Causal Inference: Expertise in MTA, Bayesian modeling, Markov chains, SEM, survival analysis, and causal inference techniques.
- Enterprise-Scale Forecasting & Simulation: Experience building modular forecasting pipelines and designing scenario simulators.
- Strategic Insight & Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to translate complex outputs into insights and communicate with senior leadership.
- Data Engineering Fluency: Deep understanding of feature engineering, data lineage, and collaboration with ML teams.
Additional Impact Areas
- Enterprise-Wide Modeling: Extend MMM frameworks to include donor experience, bequests, and investments.
- Scenario Simulation Leadership: Co-lead the design of ALSAC’s What-If Scenario Simulator.
- AI & GenAI Innovation: Contribute to AI and GenAI tools for donor insights and planning.
- Governance & Transparency: Implement model governance, explainability tools, and version control.
- Strategic Growth Path: Evolve with ALSAC’s analytics maturity, offering long-term leadership opportunities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field required; advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years in marketing analytics, data science, or econometric modeling, focusing on MMM.
- Proven success in enterprise-scale modeling and strategic analytics leadership.
