Texas Attorney General General Description The Office of the Attorney General is seeking attorneys licensed in Texas to join the agency’s Healthcare Program Enforcement Division to litigate whistleblower lawsuits under the Texas Health Care Program Fraud Prevention Act. Cases involve defendants like pharmaceutical companies, drug manufacturers, and medical providers. The work is complex and impactful. Candidates will manage cases from start to finish, including drafting motions and discovery, court appearances, trials, settlements, and appeals. Position Details The OAG is a large state agency with over 4,000 employees across Texas. It offers excellent benefits and opportunities for meaningful public service in Austin, Texas. Essential Functions Litigate complex healthcare fraud cases with a team of attorneys, preparing for jury trials. Manage all pre-trial litigation tasks: discovery, motions, depositions, legal analysis, and evidence review. Draft legal briefs, pleadings, discovery requests/responses, and represent the Office in courts. Analyze factual and legal issues, develop evidence through interviews and discovery. Perform related duties, maintain knowledge, and ensure confidentiality and compliance with policies. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications J.D. from an accredited law school. Three years of full-time licensed attorney experience. Licensed and in good standing with the Texas State Bar. Excellent communication, multitasking, judgment, and decision-making skills. Ability to prepare legal documents, conduct research, and present at trial. Ability to work in person at the designated location, travel up to 20%, lift 30 lbs., and work more than 40 hours if needed. For AAG V : All the above plus one additional year of experience. Preferred Qualifications Experience in complex civil litigation in state and federal courts. Familiarity with legal review software and case law related to healthcare fraud.
