A Day in the Life of a Project Engineer (Civil / Roadway)
As a Project Engineer, the things you design will get built! You'll use your civil engineering knowledge to deliver multimodal transportation infrastructure in a wide range of contexts from roadway reconstructions and streetscapes in highly urban settings to signature trail projects in suburban and rural areas that highlight and enhance the natural environment. You use programs such as MicroStation in order to fulfill production work on your projects. You will share your knowledge with staff and clients, to develop construction documents and details, engineering estimates, project specifications, and concept plans, as well as mentor your colleagues to ensure high-quality project delivery. Work Schedule for a Project Engineer (Civil / Roadway)
This full-time Engineer position typically works a flexible schedule of 40 hours a week with the option to work from home up to two days a week. The Silver Spring office of Toole Design is conveniently located close to regional trails and networks, with on-street bike infrastructure, and just a few blocks from the Silver Spring Metro Station (Red Line), MARC Station, and bus depot. The office is easily accessed on foot, by bicycle, and via transit. Salary Range:
$110,000 to $123,000 Qualifications of a Project Engineer (Civil / Roadway):
A bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering A Professional Engineering (PE) license (in the Mid-Atlantic states a plus) 5+ years of experience developing construction documents, preferably with agencies such as MDSHA, VDOT, DDOT, Montgomery County, Prince George's County, Arlington County Broad civil engineering knowledge with a transportation focus and specific knowledge of roadway geometric design (MUTCD and AASHTO) Proficiency in MicroStation Inroads, MicroStation OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D Experience developing construction documents, cost estimates, and specifications Working knowledge of Bluebeam and Microsoft Office applications Preferred Qualifications:
Interest in multimodal and active transportation design Ability to deliver high-quality work on time and within budget Strong relationship-building skills across disciplines Experience or interest in business development Motivation to tackle new challenges and develop creative solutions Join Our Silver Spring Team
