At iota Biosciences, we're pioneering an entirely new form of medicine. As a wholly-owned subsidiary of Astellas Pharma US, we're creating bioelectronic medical implants that treat chronic diseases in ways pharmaceuticals never could. Our wireless technology powers and communicates with implanted devices, giving clinicians a new way to treat illness.

This is your chance to be a part of groundbreaking engineering work that directly shapes the future of patient care. At iota, ideas get built, tested, and put into the hands of clinicians who are changing lives for the better.

What You'll Do

As a

Staff Electrical Engineer,

you'll combine hands-on technical expertise with strategic leadership to guide the development of next-generation Class III active implantable devices. You'll:

Hardware Design: Own the design of electrical hardware, from PCB layouts and schematics to thoughtful component selection, all while meeting ISO 13485, IEC 60601, and FDA standards. Circuit Innovation: Develop and refine digital and analog circuits, microcontroller-based systems, power management solutions, and communication interfaces that push the boundaries of what’s possible. Prototyping: Bring ideas to life by building and testing prototypes, both benchtop and in vivo, and continuously refining designs for reliability and performance. Component Selection: Choose and source sensors, actuators, microcontrollers, and power supplies, balancing cost, performance, and — when relevant — the unique requirements of biocompatibility and implantability. Testing & Validation: Plan and run rigorous benchtop and verification tests to ensure our systems are safe, reliable, and compliant with Class III device standards. Design Documentation: Maintain thorough documentation of hardware designs, schematics, bill of materials, test results, and design revisions in alignment with design control best practices. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work hand-in-hand with software, mechanical, clinical, operations, regulatory, and quality teams to deliver fully integrated solutions. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware issues in prototype, preclinical, and clinical systems, proposing and implementing solutions to ensure proper operation Standards & Compliance: Make sure our designs not only meet but anticipate the highest regulatory and industry standards.

What You Bring

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field) plus 8+ years of hardware design in embedded systems, systems engineering, or related fields Expertise in analog/digital circuit design, PCB layout, and component selection Familiarity with Class III medical device standards (21 CFR Part 820, ISO 13485, IEC 60601, ISO 14708, etc.). 2+ years of engineering leadership experience A passion for solving technical challenges
