Position Information Working Title: Senior Applied Sport Scientist - Data Management Department: Athletics-0850 Requisition Number: S_250661 Posting Open Date: 08/18/2025 Application Review Date: (To ensure consideration, please submit all application materials before review date) 08/26/2025 Posting Close Date: Open Until Filled Description of Work Assist in developing athletic performance research and testing initiatives for the Nebraska Athletic Performance Lab (NAPL). Responsibilities include interfacing with various athletic teams and providing meaningful, accurate, and clearly communicated information to coaching staff and performance staff members. The individual will work directly with University of Nebraska entities and external companies/vendors that supply data to Nebraska Athletics to obtain data for analyses. They will also interact with recruiting staff, coaches, and performance teams (sports psychology, etc.) to deliver data-informed reports and statistics to support decision-making processes of practitioners in Nebraska Athletics. The role supports data-informed decisions including player recruitment, player development, player evaluation, and coaching. Minimum Required Qualifications Master's degree in Exercise Science, Psychology, or a closely related field. Two years of direct experience working with an NCAA Division I Department of Athletics, professional sports organization, or other elite sporting institutions (e.g., USOC). Direct experience with player development data and wearable technologies (e.g., Catapult). Experience with at least one visualization tool (e.g., Power BI). Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to report and present relevant results clearly and efficiently. Preferred Qualifications PhD or PhD Candidature in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics, or related fields. Knowledge of various statistical analysis methods. Experience with statistical packages such as SAS, SPSS, R, and/or Python. Understanding of rules, strategies, and concepts related to football, basketball, and collegiate-level sports.
