Senior Software Engineer - GMD Weapon Systems Onsite at Schriever Space Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO Target salary range: $120,000 - $200,000 This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.) Active Secret Clearance Required to Start Senior software engineer to support software engineering efforts on the Ground Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Weapon System (GWS) program in Colorado Springs, CO Responsibilities: Maintain lab and mininode configurations to include adding, removing, updating redhat package manager modules (RPMs) for testing/verification Produce lab runs to test and evaluate new software capabilities as well as perform daily log file management Create scenarios and input files to evaluate specific conditions and software behaviors in the GMD Fire Control software Perform message tracing between portions of GFC software to ensure system functions as intended Investigate and document issues discovered during lab runs and provide log files to software developers Attain/Maintain Security+ certification and continuation education training requirements for a privileged user account Support daily Scrum meetings Qualifications: U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law Active Top Secret Clearance required Bachelor’s degree or higher in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics).
14+ years of experience with a Bachelors or 12+ years with a Master’s degree
Fundamental understanding of the systems engineering process and experience with system development of a software-centric product (preferably with a system in a system of systems @type environment)
Experience generating scripts and a fundamental understanding of software development with the ability to troubleshoot and support software integration efforts
Experience with working both the macro (overall plan) and micro (detailed execution), levels of software development
Preferred Qualifications: Ground Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) or Missile Defense Agency (MDA) experience Experience with application software involving GUIs in a Linux environment
Familiarity with programming in C++, Java, Ada
Knowledge of Linux GUI tools such as Eclipse and GNAT Programming Studio (GPS)
Current Security+ certification highly preferred
Demonstrated interest in learning GMD architecture and system interactions
