Responsibilities and Duties Leadership & Oversight Lead all functions within the finance and accounting department, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and operational efficiency. Ensure financial operations adhere to all applicable accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies. Oversee key functions including accounts payable/receivable, budgeting, forecasting, internal audits, tax reporting, and financial reporting. Establish, document, and enforce accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls to promote accuracy and accountability. Supervise financial reporting and analysis for multiple business entities under shared ownership. Make hiring, disciplinary, and termination decisions within the finance team as needed, in accordance with internal guidelines. Conduct timely performance evaluations and support professional development. Set and monitor performance benchmarks to evaluate department effectiveness and identify areas for continuous improvement. Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal financial regulations and recognized accounting principles. Manage and coordinate financial planning, analysis, and forecasting activities. Partner with leadership to provide strategic financial insights and support key decision-making processes. Supervise monthly, quarterly, and annual closing procedures to ensure deadlines and compliance requirements are met. Prepare and present accurate financial statements in line with accepted accounting standards. Analyze financial results versus budgeted expectations and offer actionable insights. Identify inefficiencies or cost trends and propose corrective actions. Generate monthly performance reports segmented by sales representatives and other relevant metrics. Sales Tax & Regulatory Responsibilities Manage sales and use tax compliance for multiple jurisdictions across the country. Monitor and update filing requirements based on changes in business activity or regulatory changes. Reconcile and resolve discrepancies between tax systems and internal accounting records. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of multi-state tax obligations, software integrations, and reporting requirements. Reconciliations & Fixed Asset Oversight Perform regular reconciliations for all major balance sheet accounts including banking, receivables, payables, deposits, and capital expenditures. Oversee tracking and accounting of capital assets such as leased vehicles, major purchases, and construction projects. Manage lien waiver documentation and tracking for capital-related projects. Act as the primary contact for external financial and professional service providers such as auditors, banks, insurance agents, and tax advisors. Coordinate external reviews, audits, and filings with relevant third-party entities. Prepare customized financial reports to support senior leadership and operations teams. Support operational leaders by providing financial insights, identifying gaps, and collaborating on resolution strategies. Track and report sales performance projections against budgets and provide variance analysis. Qualifications and Skills Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (advanced degree or CPA designation preferred). Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial leadership or accounting management roles. Strong working knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP), financial regulations, and industry best practices. Proven ability to lead teams, manage performance, and drive process improvements. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. High attention to detail and accuracy, with strong organizational capabilities. Advanced proficiency in data analysis, reporting, and spreadsheet tools (e.g., PivotTables, Excel). Skilled at managing multiple projects and priorities under tight deadlines. Experience with accounting software, ERP systems, and cloud-based productivity tools. Strong interpersonal and decision-making skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams. Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, risk management, and financial forecasting.
