About the Role This role supports AMC's client, the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM). The
Senior Manager, Education and Learning
leads AAHPM's education team in planning, executing, and continuously improving educational products, programs, and resources that prioritize the needs of clinicians and advance high-quality hospice and palliative care. The ideal candidate will build lasting partnerships through meaningful collaboration with internal and external contributors to develop educational experiences aligned with shared values and strategic goals and will ensure all accredited activities meet ACCME standards. Education and Learning Responsibilities Implement AAHPM's learning and educational strategy to build and sustain competence and skills to support high-quality, evidence-based hospice and palliative care practice in diverse practice settings. Deliver learning experiences to support various career pathways into and within hospice and palliative care that support workforce development. Collaborate across teams, committees, and volunteers to advance hospice, palliative, and leadership education at all levels of professional development by transforming vetted concepts into impactful interprofessional learning products and activities. Advocate, support and advance equity and justice through diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives of AMC and AAHPM. Lead internal and external collaboration in the preparation, delivery, and evaluation of educational content, ensuring alignment with accreditation standards and achievement of measurable learner outcomes. Oversee educational programming budgets in collaboration with the product development team, ensuring alignment with the Academy's operational plan Provide strategic leadership for educational grant development aligned with the organization's educational priorities. Managerial Responsibilities Recruit, select and direct staff. Facilitate a culture that fosters engaged and high performing direct reports to support the achievement of the goals of AMC. Engage in continuous conversations that support high performance and development and growth of direct reports through investing in direct reports in a consistent, productive, and on-going manner.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree required; Master's Degree preferred. 5-7 years minimum experience developing and implementing educational and clinical training programs. Ability to plan and implement CME programs in a variety of innovative settings and formats. Experience with abstract and learning management systems a plus. Experience working within a non-profit, health care, medical education or healthcare society. Successful integration of adult learning principles and distance learning education. Previous supervisory experience managing staff of different levels. Solid computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite and database management systems required. Ability to travel 2-4 times per year, by all modes of transportation including car, plane and train. Physical: primarily a desk-based role, requiring extended computer use. Work involves sitting, talking, hearing, and typing, with visual acuity required for keyboard usage, data analysis, and computer terminal operation. Occasional light lifting may be necessary. Location: This is a hybrid role in Schaumburg, IL. Employees who reside within 50 miles of the office are expected to work onsite one day per month. At times, there may be circumstances that require additional visits to the office. Candidates who live more than 50 miles from the office, including in and out of IL, may be considered for a remote opportunity. Out of state applicants may be eligible for hire, depending on the state in which they reside. Applicants must be located and authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis now and in the future.
