Overview A superlative nanny/educator is sought for a busy family on the Upper East Side. Responsibilities will pertain to their sporty, independent 13-year-old daughter, and the family will guarantee 40 hours per week. Where these hours fall will vary throughout the year, depending on whether their daughter is at school/ off school/ at Summer camp, or off sick, etc. Typically, during the school year, the schedule will be 12 noon-8 pm. It will then switch to an earlier start (around 8/9 am) and finish (around 5/6 pm) during the school holidays, and when the daughter is off school for whatever reason. Candidates must be flexible to accommodate the sliding schedule.

The family’s current nanny is relocating, and her last day will be Friday, October 24th, so ideally the candidate would start well before then to ensure a smooth transition.

Responsibilities

School/activity drop off and pick up, specifically for swim training - the daughter is both academic and an athlete, swimming 6 days per week

On occasion, the candidate will be required to travel with the daughter in a proxy capacity (without either of the parents), so they must be comfortable doing this

Neither of the parents were educated in the US, so candidates should be willing and able to guide them and their daughter through the US education system, identifying pain points and ensuring their daughter is on track

Qualifications

Must have a solid understanding of the Secondary education curriculum and/ or relevant teaching experience in order to assist the family’s daughter with her studies and keep the parents apprised

Candidates should be patient, mature, with a sense of humor, firm boundaries, and the ability to be a safe, responsible, and intuitive additional parent/ role model when the parents are working/ out of town.

Requirements

US passport, Green Card, or EAC

Candidates must be non-smokers

Must be passport-ready and willing to travel, if required

Candidates must drive (the family will provide a car)

A solid understanding of the US Education system (specifically as it pertains to Secondary education) is essential

Candidates must be comfortable signing an NDA

Must ideally be able to start in September

All industry standard benefits, including additional overnight fee for any overnights and 8 x paid Federal Holidays, and healthcare
