Purpose: The
ETO Facility
Material Handler
plays a critical role in ensuring efficient and accurate movement, storage, and distribution of materials within the facility. This position is responsible for managing inventory flow, supporting production schedules, and maintaining organized storage areas to optimize operational productivity. The Material Handler collaborates closely with warehouse, production, and logistics teams to facilitate timely delivery and receipt of materials. Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols are essential to prevent damage and ensure compliance with company standards. Ultimately, this role supports the seamless operation of supply chain processes, contributing to overall business success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Material Handling and Transport : Load and unload materials and products using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment. Transport materials and products within the facility, ensuring proper placement and preparation for ETO sterilization cycles. Safely handle materials according to SOPs, including hazardous materials such as Ethylene Oxide gas. Product Staging and Preparation : Stage products for sterilization by arranging them according to sterilization schedules and ensuring proper packaging and labeling. Ensure products are properly spaced and loaded into sterilization chambers to ensure effective gas penetration during sterilization. Prepare finished products for post-sterilization handling, including proper labeling and staging for shipment or further processing. Receiving and Shipping : Receive incoming shipments of materials, verify against packing lists, and inspect for damage or non-conformance. Document incoming and outgoing shipments in the inventory management system, ensuring accurate records are kept, and communicate with QA for verification. Prepare finished sterilized products for shipping, including palletizing, labeling, and coordinating with logistics teams. Inventory Management : Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, packaging, and finished goods to ensure an adequate supply for production needs. Assist in conducting regular physical inventory counts and reconciling discrepancies with system records. Label and store all materials in the appropriate locations, maintaining proper stock rotation (e.g., First-In-First-Out). Safety and Compliance : Follow all safety protocols and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when handling materials, especially in areas where Ethylene Oxide is present. Adhere to OSHA, FDA, ISO, and other regulatory requirements related to hazardous material handling and sterilization. Ensure all materials are stored in accordance with safety regulations, especially flammable or hazardous materials. Documentation and Record-Keeping : Maintain accurate documentation of material handling activities, including sterilization batch records, inventory logs. Work with the QA and operations teams to ensure compliance with regulatory and quality documentation standards. Track product movement and status within the facility using the facility's inventory management system or warehouse management software. Environment maintenance : Conduct WH cleaning according to the procedure requirement.
Education & Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Certifications in material handling equipment (e.g., forklift certification) are a plus. 1-3 years of experience in material handling, warehouse operations, or logistics. Experience in a manufacturing or regulated environment (e.g., medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or sterilization) is preferred. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to safely operate material handling equipment (forklift, pallet jack, etc.). Good communication skills to interact with team members and supervisors. Basic computer skills for data entry and documentation.
Physical Demands This position may require long periods of standing. Physical demands include standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), and operating material handling equipment. Use of fingers, hands, or feel objects. Climb stairs. Stand, sit, stoop, kneel, and crouch. Close vision and depth perception. Must be comfortable working in a controlled industrial environment, adhering to strict safety protocols. Requires compliance with PPE standards for ETO sterilization facilities.
