They serve as the clinical resource person on patient care and services. They act as the patient care representative and collaborate with medical staff, ancillary support, and clinical services. This ensures optimal patient care services and environmental conditions at all times. The Nursing Supervisor is responsible for notifying the Administrator-On-Call of serious issues, incidents, and internal and external disasters. They must be able to read Tele Strips, perform Cardiac Drips, and titrate medications. They are expected to demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills and possess excellent interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with a diverse group of people. The role involves supervising patient care through verification of established nursing practices and patient care standards. The Nursing Supervisor provides direction and guidance to facilitate the nursing process. They ensure appropriate intervention is demonstrated in all situations, such as deterioration of patient condition, disruptive behavior, and equipment malfunctions. They serve as the off-shift patient care representative, listen to patient or family member issues, document complaints, and investigate if required. Conducting rounds of all patient care areas is a key responsibility to define expectations for accurate reporting with an emphasis on high-acuity patients. Collaboration throughout off-shift with support services, emergency, admitting, and clinical services is essential to coordinate clinical patient care or environmental needs. A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required for this position.
