They will perform arterial blood gas assessments and ventilator management. High flow nasal cannula therapy and chest physiotherapy will also be required. Education for COPD patients and respiratory assessments are key responsibilities. Management of the airway and administering nitric oxide may be necessary as well. Types of patients include adults, Level III NICU, and potentially pediatric cases in the emergency room. The respiratory therapist will cover floor, ICU, NICU, and emergency room areas. Equipment used includes Servo I, S, and U ventilators, V60, HT-70, Resmed, Optiflow, Volara, Therapy vest, and SIPAP. On average, the therapist will conduct around 20 treatments per shift. The applicant will assist with intubation but will not perform it independently. They may take on supervisory or charge therapist roles when needed. Schedules will be managed by a supervisor, with no block scheduling. Four or more respiratory therapists will be scheduled per shift. Weekend requirements include every other weekend, with holiday requirements of one major and one minor holiday. There is no call or standby call requirement.
