Pathology Department Supervisor Position Overview
As a Cytotechnologist, you will play a pivotal role in our laboratory by performing microscopic examinations of cellular specimens to detect and diagnose diseases, particularly cancer. Your expertise will directly contribute to patient care by providing accurate and timely diagnostic information Key Responsibilities
Microscopic Examination:
Analyze gynecologic and non-gynecologic slides using advanced staining techniques to identify abnormal cells indicative of disease processes
Collaboration with Pathologists:
Work closely with pathologists to discuss findings and assist in the formulation of diagnostic reports.
Specimen Processing:
Prepare and stain specimens, ensuring proper handling and documentation in compliance with laboratory protocols.
Quality Assurance:
Participate in quality control activities, including proficiency testing and adherence to CLIA and CAP standards.
Education and Training:
Provide guidance and training to laboratory staff and students, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
Required Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor s degree in Cytotechnology or a related field.
Certification:
Certification as a Cytotechnologist by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent
Experience:
Experience is preferred but not required.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and software for image analysis and data management
Communication:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals
