Job DescriptionJob Description Direct Counsel is seeking a Construction Associate Attorney to join a Am Law firm.
The following information aims to provide potential candidates with a better understanding of the requirements for this role. Locations:
Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Miami, New York, Philadelphia, Reston (VA), Washington DC, Wilmington (DE) The ideal candidate will have 3–4 years of construction transactional experience, including drafting and negotiating design, construction, consulting, EPC, and related development agreements on commercial, energy, and large infrastructure projects. Candidates must be able to independently manage initial contract drafts with partner oversight and possess immediately transferable skills from a large or mid-sized law firm. Experience supporting construction litigation or arbitration matters is strongly . Responsibilities include: Drafting and negotiating industry-standard and bespoke construction, design, EPC, and development agreements across multiple sectors
Providing strategic counsel to clients on claims management, change orders, extra work claims, delay issues, and construction defect disputes
Supporting construction litigation and arbitration matters: drafting pleadings, handling discovery, assisting with depositions, and participating in mediations/hearings
Qualifications: JD from a nationally recognized law school
Admitted to practice in the jurisdiction where applying
Minimum 3 years of relevant construction law experience
Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills
Ability to balance multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Collaborative team player with demonstrated business judgment
Compensation:
$260,000 – $310,000, commensurate with experience, plus comprehensive medical, retirement, and wellness benefits.
