Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced

In-House Counsel – Real Estate

to support our growing portfolio of

utility-scale solar projects . This role will be responsible for overseeing all legal aspects of real estate transactions, including land acquisitions, leasing, title review, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial real estate law, with a focus on

renewable energy projects, land use, and permitting .

Real Estate Transactions & Due Diligence

Negotiate, draft, and review real estate agreements, including

leases, purchase agreements, easements, rights-of-way, and title curative documents .

Conduct and oversee

title, survey, and environmental reviews

to identify and resolve potential land-use issues.

Work closely with

landowners, developers, and third-party consultants

to ensure smooth transactions.

Land Use & Permitting

Provide legal guidance on

zoning, land use, and permitting requirements

for utility-scale solar projects.

Advise internal teams on

state, local, and federal regulations

affecting land development.

Assist with obtaining necessary permits, variances, and approvals for project development.

Risk Management & Compliance

Ensure compliance with

real estate, environmental, and energy regulations

impacting solar project development.

Identify and mitigate legal risks associated with land acquisition and development.

Work with external counsel as needed to resolve disputes or litigation related to real estate matters.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner with

project development, finance, engineering, and construction teams

to align legal strategies with business objectives.

Support

M &A and project financing efforts

by preparing due diligence materials and addressing investor/lender concerns.

Provide training and guidance to internal teams on real estate legal issues and best practices.

Qualifications & Experience:

Juris Doctor (J.D.)

from an accredited law school.

Licensed attorney

in [Insert State] or eligible for in-house counsel registration.

5+ years of legal experience

in real estate law, with a preference for experience in

renewable energy, infrastructure, or utilities .

Strong expertise in

commercial real estate transactions, land use law, title review, and permitting .

Experience negotiating with

landowners, developers, and governmental agencies .

Familiarity with

NEPA, CEQA, and other environmental laws

impacting solar development is a plus.

Skills & Competencies:

Excellent negotiation and contract drafting skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with stakeholders at all levels.

Business acumen and ability to provide strategic legal advice.
