Job Description
At Relativity Space, we're building rockets to serve today's needs and tomorrow's breakthroughs. Our Terran R vehicle will deliver customer payloads to orbit, meeting the growing demand for launch capacity. Achieving commercial success with Terran R will unlock new opportunities to advance science, exploration, and innovation, pioneering progress that reaches beyond the known.
Joining Relativity means becoming part of a company where autonomy, ownership, and impact are valued at every level. Here, you're not just executing tasks; you're solving unprecedented problems, helping develop a rocket, a factory, and a business from the ground up. Whether in propulsion, manufacturing, software, avionics, or corporate functions, you'll collaborate across teams, influence decisions, and see your work materialize quickly. Relativity is a place where creativity and technical rigor go hand in hand, and your voice helps shape our collective story. This is a unique moment to leave your mark on the product, process, and culture, with Terran R gaining momentum. The most meaningful work of your career awaits. Join us.
About the Team:
The Integrated Performance team oversees the holistic assembly of Terran R, ensuring all vehicle and ground systems meet our ambitious goals. The team covers the entire launch system, from trajectory design and aerodynamics to reliability analysis, influencing all stages from conceptual design to post-flight review. Members engage hands-on with hardware and operations, with the authority to drive significant programmatic changes. The team spans multiple technical domains and collaborates closely with partner teams to solve complex multidisciplinary problems, operating at a scale that allows for meaningful individual impact.
The Loads & Dynamics team works with adjacent Flight Sciences teams, including Dynamic Environments and Aerodynamics, across Structures, Mechanisms, Fluids, GNCP, Launch, and Test teams. They develop robust vehicle and ground system architectures, generate loads, maintain analysis tools, provide design guidance, and contribute to performance trade-offs, all while meeting technical requirements within time and budget constraints. Autonomy and prioritization skills are essential in this fast-paced environment.
About the Role:
Drive hardware design maturation and operational decisions through analysis and cross-team communication.
Lead development, execution, and validation of dynamic analyses like Coupled Loads and Vibroacoustic Analysis, including tooling and automation.
Develop dynamic loads, levels, and criteria from concept to data review for Terran R hardware.
Contribute to and execute roadmaps for analysis, testing, and tool development collaboratively with management.
Design system elements and operations to meet Loads and Dynamics criteria, identifying opportunities for performance, reliability, robustness, or simplicity improvements.
Mentor analysts to be hardware-focused, collaborative, and rigorous.
About You:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field with 7+ years of relevant experience.
Proven experience managing complex analysis projects for hardware teams and certification authorities.
Experience with Finite Element or other modeling approaches for dynamic response analysis.
Experience developing analysis tools and workflows for Dynamics.
Knowledge of testing, instrumentation, and data analysis.
Nice to have but not required:
Experience leading technical teams, including hiring and performance management.
Experience in anomaly resolution and failure investigations.
Experience in Dynamics roles from concept through V&V/certification on vehicle programs.
Knowledge of liquid rocket engines, fluid dynamics, aerodynamics, and structural mechanics.
At Relativity Space, we value transparency and fairness. Compensation depends on experience and qualifications. We offer competitive salary and equity, generous PTO, parental leave, learning stipends, and more. For benefits details, please visit our site.
Hiring Range: $176,000—$225,500 USD
