Johnson Service Group has an immediate career opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer at a leading global contract manufacturer in the San Jose, CA, area.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Support the Program Manager with assigned tasks, projects, and customer-related activities.
Interface with customers to define requirements and ensure expectations are met.
Conduct pre-/post-DfA/DfM analyses and recommend design changes as needed.
Review and approve NPI processes (MPI, tooling, SAP modules, etc.).
Support production from pilot to mass production; troubleshoot issues and mentor technicians/operators.
Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing and assembly processes for productivity.
Collect and analyze data to drive process/equipment improvements and corrective actions.
Identify and implement cost reduction initiatives.
Apply Lean/ISO principles: value stream mapping, floor layout, TAKT studies, DOE, yield analysis.
Create and maintain process control plans and PFMEAs.
Provide engineering root cause analysis and corrective action support.
Collaborate with global sites and recommend capital equipment.
Assist in developing automated processes using hardware/software tools.
Prepare activity reports and required documentation.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
7+ years of experience in contract manufacturing/process engineering (PCBA & mechanical assemblies).
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
Experience with product documentation (BOMs, drawings, work instructions, standards).
Knowledge of soldering processes, value stream mapping, MTM, and ergonomic studies.
Proficient in CAM and design software (CAM 350, AutoCAD, Valor, ProE, SolidWorks, etc.).
Strong analytical, problem-solving, root cause, and decision-making skills.
Ability to read/interpret schematics, procedures, and reports; maintain accurate documentation.
Skilled in presenting, collaborating across departments, and interfacing with customers/vendors.
Effective communicator with leadership, coaching, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills.
Self-directed, dependable, motivated; strong time and relationship management.
Experience leading teams/projects, customer commitments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Knowledge of Lean, ISO/QMS, Theory of Constraints, and customer satisfaction processes.
Proficient with MRP systems and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
Nonessential Skills and Experience:
This may include odd-hour teleconferences with global facilities.
