Marketing Communications Manager (Long-term contract)
for a DC-based organization. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with leadership to develop and execute donor-focused communications, craft compelling proposals and stewardship pieces (including ghostwriting for executive leadership), and manage integrated campaigns and content updates. This is a hands-on role with high visibility, ideal for an energetic marketer and storyteller experienced in creating effective fundraising and donor communications in nonprofit or membership-based settings.

Location: Hybrid role with 2 days per week onsite in the DC-metro area.
U.S. citizenship or a permanent residency card in the U.S. is required to be an eligible candidate for this opportunity.
Employment: Long-term contract opportunity, full-time at 37.5 hours/week. Flexible schedule with work-from-home (WFH) options. Suite of benefits available.
Role responsibilities:
Execute integrated donor marketing, communications, and stewardship initiatives based on developed strategy Write compelling proposals, donor solicitations, stewardship letters, and campaign emails (including for large-dollar donors and executive ghostwriting) Edit and craft materials to ensure message consistency, effectiveness, and appropriate tone for a variety of donor audiences Collaborate internally to collect and share impact stories, donor outcomes, and program highlights to inspire giving Partner with creative and digital teams to ensure polished, branded campaign collateral and seamless donor experiences online Update web content and manage donor communications calendar Coordinate with writers and editorsto highlight key gifts and recognize major donors in print and digital outlets Use data and analytics to evaluate campaign performance and inform recommendations Contribute to annual reports and other high-profile donor publications Support internal communications and media/PR activities to amplify the organization's mission and results Skills and experience:
6+ years’ experience in marketing and communications, ideally in fundraising, nonprofit, or membership association roles Demonstrated success writing for and engaging executive-level and donor audiences; experience ghostwriting for senior leaders a plus Exceptional storyteller with proven ability to craft inspiring impact stories and persuasive fundraising messaging Experience creating proposals and communications for both major and grassroots donors Familiarity with digital marketing/email tools (e.g., Higher Logic, Real Magnet, or similar) Strong project management, multitasking, and editing skills; ability to juggle competing priorities and deadlines Collaborative approach with ability to work independently
