If you're a Senior Counsel, Commercial, we have an exciting opportunity for you. Woodward, Inc. seeks an experienced Senior Counsel, Commercial to provide strategic legal support for our Aerospace business segment. The role involves handling commercial contracts, supporting mergers and acquisitions, and collaborating across business units. After an initial in-person period of ninety days, this hybrid role requires in-office presence three days a week at one of our sites in Niles, IL; Rockford, IL; Fort Collins, CO; or Santa Clarita, CA. What You Will Be Doing Serving as a senior legal advisor for aerospace business programs and contracts Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial agreements Supporting mergers, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships Developing contract templates, negotiation guidelines, and training Managing pre-litigation disputes and coordinating with external counsel Supporting legal initiatives and policies within the commercial segment Providing expertise on regulatory, compliance, and contractual matters Balancing legal risks with business objectives Communicating legal guidance clearly to technical and non-legal stakeholders Resolving disputes and supporting decision-making Aligning legal support with long-term business goals Leading legal aspects of commercial initiatives What We Are Looking For J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and licensed in at least one U.S. jurisdiction 6+ years in commercial law, preferably in a corporate legal or aerospace/manufacturing sector Expertise in contract law, compliance, and regulations relevant to aerospace and manufacturing, including international locations Familiarity with U.S. government contracting and other regulatory frameworks Knowledge of FAA, EASA, or other airworthiness regulations is a plus Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, matrixed environment Strong negotiation skills and sound legal judgment Excellent communication skills to explain complex legal issues Experience supporting negotiations and managing legal risk globally Ability to serve as a trusted legal advisor within cross-functional teams The application window is expected to close 30 days from the posting date.
