About the Role
The Company is seeking a Senior Corporate Counsel and Chief Privacy Officer to lead the management of its privacy, data management, and security program. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with a wide range of privacy laws and regulations, including but not limited to HIPAA/HITECH, GDPR, and various US state and federal laws. This role involves the development, implementation, and oversight of privacy, data management, and security programs, as well as the creation and enforcement of internal and external privacy policies and procedures. The Senior Corporate Counsel and Chief Privacy Officer will also be tasked with providing legal support and advice on privacy, data management, and security matters, and will work closely with business leaders to mitigate legal and compliance risks.
Applicants for this position at the company should have a Juris Doctor from an accredited law school, with a preference for those admitted to the New Jersey state bar. A minimum of 8 years' legal experience, particularly in the areas of global privacy, data management, and cybersecurity laws, is required. The ideal candidate will have a background in medical devices, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, or other healthcare-related fields, and experience with international organizations. Strong communication, leadership, and collaboration skills are essential, as is the ability to manage change and solve complex problems. A Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) or similar certification is a plus, and a broad knowledge of relevant laws and regulations, as well as experience in commercial contracting, compliance programs, and M&A, is highly valued.
