  • Shift: Night, 3x12-Hour (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
  • Scheduling: No block schedules; every other weekend coverage required

Job Duties:

  • Provide nursing care for progressive care unit patients including those with acute coronary syndrome, post cardiac catheterization, and post cardiac surgery.
  • Manage insulin drips, cardiac drips, and thrombolytic therapy while monitoring hemodynamic stability.
  • Administer medications and perform complex nursing tasks such as IV therapy, central and peripheral line management, and blood product administration.
  • Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and respond appropriately to dysrhythmias and emergencies.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to deliver comprehensive patient care including respiratory and neurological support.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience, preferably in telemetry, progressive care, or IMC settings
  • Current NY RN license or proof of application (note: licensing process can take 6-8 weeks)
  • Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years (required)
  • Certification in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (NIHSS must be completed prior to start)
  • Ability to work every other weekend

Required Skills:

  • IV therapy, phlebotomy, starting and managing peripheral and central lines
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring and emergency response
  • Knowledge of insulin drip protocols and cardiac medication management (including titration)
  • Proficient in isolation precautions and wound care including wound VAC management
  • Skilled in respiratory support devices (CPAP/BiPAP, nasal cannula) and oxygen therapy

  • Patient Population: Adult patients with cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, and metabolic diagnoses
  • Patient Ratio: Approximately 3:1
  • Staffing Support: CNA/PCT, telemetry techs, unit clerks
  • Dress Code: Navy blue or white scrubs, closed-toe nonskid shoes, minimal jewelry, professional grooming
