About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to play a pivotal role in the organization's mission to ensure a complete and accurate census count. The COO will be a key executive partner, working closely with the President & CEO to clarify the vision, translate strategy into execution, and lead the business functions of the organization. This includes overseeing HR, financial management, organizational strategy, and operational excellence. The successful candidate will be responsible for elevating the people strategy, driving financial strategy and oversight, and advancing strategic operations and organizational infrastructure. They will also be tasked with building and leading a high-performing, inclusive culture, and ensuring the organization's values and operating norms are embedded across all teams.
Applicants for the COO position at the company should have at least 5 years' experience in a senior leadership role with a proven track record in cross-functional areas such as finance, operations, and talent. A deep understanding of nonprofit financial management and GAAP is essential, as is the ability to move between high-level strategy and day-to-day problem-solving. The role requires a candidate who is adept at building and scaling systems and teams in a mission-driven environment, and who can bring a calm, authentic, and inclusive leadership presence to the organization. The COO will be expected to manage the contracting process, drive progress tracking, and collaborate across functions to streamline processes. The position is remote, with a preference for a Texas-based candidate, and may involve occasional travel within the state.
