Senior Associate Scientist

As part of the Comparative Medicine (CM) team, you will provide direct technical support to partners in Research and Development in the delivery of projects by the completion of experiments, procedures, protocols or studies involving animal models. You will be responsible for organizing and delivering study support needed on a daily basis as defined by CM Management and research partners and will work with other colleagues in the efficient conduct of techniques and therefore contribute significantly to the advancement of 3Rs. This position is in La Jolla, CA in our rodent only facility supporting Oncology research. You will also be responsible for maintaining inventory of animal supplies and providing basic technical assistance (i.e., restraint, anesthesia, injections, blood collections etc.) in support of research studies. Responsibilities: Support the project teams in both Research and Development by performing in vivo technical procedures in the conduct of experiments and protocols and by collecting, recording and exporting data in the delivery of studies Interact with the key in vivo contacts in project teams to understand their needs, engaging them in a flexible and constructive manner Contribute to operational excellence by the collation of metrics showing the efficient delivery of support across project teams, including alignment with colleagues in CM in the delivery of technical support and its associated metrics when required Provide support in basic veterinary medical treatment as prescribed by the veterinary staff Maintains appropriate records in compliance with regulatory and departmental standards, which may include maintaining animal study-related records and ensuring flawless animal care and welfare in conducting research studies Operate and maintain laboratory equipment's Qualifications: BS with a minimum of 2-3+ years of in vivo experience in pharmaceuticals or a related field AALAS certification preferred Experience with basic handling of animals (rodents) Proficient with in vivo techniques including dosing of animals, collection and processing of blood samples, tissue collection, and recording data and basic analysis using Microsoft Excel and Word Experience with tumor cell implementation, tumor volume measurements, in vivo imaging, and anesthesia setup preferred Location/Schedule: This is a fully onsite role in La Jolla, CA Sunday - Thursday; 40 hours per week Please note contractors are engaged to provide services to Pfizer on a temporary basis in connection with a specific assignment.
