$140,000.00/yr - $150,000.00/yr Direct message the job poster from The Phoenix Group We’re looking for a seasoned professional to take ownership of the design, deployment, and ongoing support of both local and network-based applications across traditional desktops and virtual environments. This role is focused on ensuring system stability, performance, and security while enabling employees to get the most out of their technology. Key Responsibilities Architect, maintain, and optimize the Microsoft Windows desktop ecosystem, applying recognized industry practices. Validate and approve new software or application updates to ensure compatibility with enterprise systems and standards. Act as an escalation point for advanced troubleshooting related to operating systems, applications, or client configurations. Guide new solutions from development through testing and production rollout. Translate business needs into clear, scalable technology solutions. Oversee security patching, updates, and process-driven delivery of critical fixes. Automate deployment processes for applications, patches, and system updates. Partner with vendors and integration teams to implement and maintain desktop application solutions. Manage application lifecycles and provide input into budgeting and forecasting for software needs. Configure and maintain Active Directory and Group Policy Objects (GPOs). Develop, document, and update Windows client images and related standards. Create and enforce desktop technology standards to ensure security, reliability, and consistency. Govern changes to production desktop environments with appropriate documentation and controls. Lead or participate in multi-team projects to adopt or enhance enterprise technologies. Provide technical expertise and professional support to internal teams, users, and external partners. Maintain and enhance both physical and virtual desktop infrastructures, including VMware Horizon environments (Horizon View, vSphere, vRealize Operations, etc.). Ensure all maintenance aligns with IT change management procedures. Deliver knowledge-sharing sessions and create documentation for IT colleagues and support staff. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience. 5–7+ years of relevant hands-on experience in desktop/application engineering. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Windows operating systems. Experience managing GPOs, Active Directory, and security configurations. Skilled in scripting (PowerShell, VBScript, or similar). Familiarity with application packaging tools (e.g., Flexera AdminStudio). Knowledge of enterprise deployment solutions (e.g., Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager/MECM). Understanding of Windows application installation processes. Experience working with VMware Horizon and vCenter. Proficiency in image creation and management using MECM. Background in securing Windows clients using tools such as Microsoft BitLocker, antivirus solutions, and encryption methods. Familiarity with Citrix XenApp application publishing. Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP, SSL/TLS). Solid foundation in ITIL practices and change management. Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and on-call support rotations. Excellent communication skills with a strong customer service focus.
