Our bespoke platform handles millions of transactions per day. It considers billions of data points which give engineers the opportunity to build technology at scale, collaborate across teams and gain exposure to a wide range of technology. We are looking for a Lead Compute / Storage Infrastructure Engineer

Target total compensation ranges from $385,000 - $520,000, including a fixed annual salary of $260,000 - $320,000, an employee equity plan grant, and world-class benefits. Equity grants are issued in good faith and are subject to company policies, board approval, and individual eligibility. As our Lead Compute / Storage Engineer, you’ll be a player-coach: contributing directly as a hands-on engineer while guiding others through technical leadership. You’ll own the design, deployment, and evolution of the core compute, networking, and storage platforms that power our business—spanning container orchestration, streaming data pipelines, and scalable storage systems. Depending on background and interest, you will take on either a Lead Compute Engineer role (focusing on Kubernetes, networking, and workload orchestration) or a Lead Storage Engineer role (focusing on Kafka, Cassandra, data lakes, and OLAP engines). About the role: Provide technical leadership across either compute or storage, while remaining hands-on in design, coding, and operations Drive the evolution of Kubernetes platforms and core addons (EKS, ECR, Helm, Argo, observability tooling) and/or storage platforms (Kafka, Cassandra, Trino, DeltaStreamer, OLAP engines) Own key platform foundations: networking (VPCs, peering, Istio), data streaming (multi-region Kafka clusters, schema registries), and scalable storage (Cassandra operators, datalake ingestion, Trino analytics) Build automation and developer-facing tooling that improves reliability, accelerates delivery, and simplifies complex workflows Operate mission-critical services in production—ensuring high availability, performance, and security for both real-time and batch systems Act as a player-coach: mentor teammates, lead technical initiatives, and foster best practices across platform engineering Depending on scope, take on dotted-line leadership of projects or direct management of engineers Requirements About You: 5+ years of experience in platform, infrastructure, or DevOps engineering roles with deep expertise in either compute/orchestration or storage/data platforms Strong background in one or more of the following domains: Kubernetes and container orchestration (EKS, ECR, Helm, Argo Rollouts, Spark on Kubernetes, workflow schedulers) Distributed storage and data platforms (Kafka, Cassandra, Trino, DeltaStreamer, OLAP engines, schema management) Proficiency with scripting and automation (Python, Bash, Terraform) and hands-on Linux administration Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects, mentor engineers, and influence platform direction Clear communicator who thrives in fast-paced environments and builds strong cross-functional relationships Passion for reliability, scalability, and enabling other teams to move faster with confidence Benefits About Rokt’stars: As a mission-driven, hyper-growth community of curious explorers, our ambition is to unlock real-time relevancy in ecommerce and beyond.
