Senior System Administrator Server
This role focuses on Linux server administration.
Job Summary:
Responsible for providing guidance and engineering solutions to fulfill business requirements using sound, proven, industry best practices and in accordance with architectural standards and engineering methodology. Develops and presents recommendations to Sr. Management. Analyzes and resolves complex issues related to server administration and operations, system software, storage management, backup methodology, virtualization, monitoring and management tools, business continuity, high availability solutions, provide hardware estimates, support hardware and related applications. Analyzes, coordinates, and implements infrastructure projects. Monitors system performance and capacity, and provides periodic system status reports to department management and provides proactive remediation. Analyzes reports to identify trends and opportunities for process and technology enhancements and coordinates system enhancements with architectural team. Provides cost and trend analysis and resolutions to critical Infrastructure problems. Acts as a technical escalation point for junior team members. Responsibilities:
Build and support server infrastructure and systems Responsible for maintaining the server and virtual machine environments Proactive server performance management Level 2 escalation point for server and operations teams Serves as liaison between operations and architecture teams Manage physical and virtual server environments using sounds process and procedures Service, incident and change request ticket management Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization Credentials:
MCSE certification (Preferred) RHCSA Certification (Preferred) Education or Equivalent Experience:
H.S. Diploma/GED (Required) 10+ years System administration, VMWare and Storage 8+ years Server Infrastructure, Cloud Infrastructure, storage OR Bachelor of Arts or Science 6+ years System administration, VMWare and Storage 4+ years Server Infrastructure, Cloud Infrastructure, storage Skills & Abilities:
Senior level Windows or Linux system admin Working knowledge of networking including routing, switching, firewalls. Working knowledge of common security devices and practices. DEVOPS experience X VMware or other Virtualization experience (Preferred) Storage and backup systems (Preferred) Healthcare experience (Preferred) Ability to manage databases
