About This Role The School of Health Sciences, within the College of Health and Human Sciences, is currently seeking

12-

month Principal Faculty

members to join their team in the

Physician Assistant (PA) Program . This position will be responsible for teaching the prescribed didactic and clinical curriculum to PA students and evaluating their progress. This position will report directly to the PA Program Director.

Additional duties include, but are not limited to:

Serve as an advisor, providing guidance and mentorship to students in all phases of training regarding their academic performance and professional development

Develop and deliver lecture, laboratory, and small-group interactive sessions based on program needs and individual faculty experience and expertise

Work in concert with program faculty to develop appropriate courses to address instructional needs of the program

Review and update instructional objectives, assist in development of new clinical preceptors, prepare and administer exams, assign student grades, and review rotation evaluation data

Assist Associate Director with summative assessment process for determining student readiness to enter Supervised Clinical Practice Experiences (SCPE) and future clinical practice

Participate in routine evaluation of PA student competencies

Monitor patient encounter/acuity logs in Exxat to ensure SCPE-specific learning objectives are met

Administer End-of-Rotation exams during clinical phase of curriculum

Participate in initial and ongoing evaluation of PA Program by contributing to detailed analysis and reports for ongoing program evaluation, assessment, and improvement

Serve as course director for any available course of the didactic and/or clinical year after one year with K-State’s PA Program

Participate in the screening, interviewing, and selection of applicants for PA Program

Serve as chair or member of assigned sub-committee (i.e., admissions, promotion/professionalism, accreditation, didactic curriculum, clinical curriculum, etc.)

This 12-month position at the

rank of clinical assistant professor

has

a preferred starting date of spring or summer 2025 , with competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

leads to a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree. The 27-month program follows the traditional medical model of training, providing in-depth analysis of disease processes, diagnosis and treatment, and prepares students to serve as primary health care providers who practice medicine with physician supervision. The PA Program’s mission is to prepare highly skilled graduates who are committed to providing compassionate and patient-centered care in a collaborative environment. What You'll Need to Succeed Minimum Qualifications:

Physician Assistant with the following:

Master’s degree with three years of clinical practice experience

OR

bachelor’s degree with 25 years of clinical practice experience,

Current NCCPA certification, and

Current Kansas Physician Assistant license or eligibility for Kansas licensure;

OR

Physician with the following:

M.D. or D.O.,

Current Kansas Physician license or eligibility for Kansas licensure,

Board Certification as a physician, and

Three years of clinical practice experience;

OR

Non-clinician Scientist or Health Professional with the following:

Doctoral degree in a health or science related field, and

Three years of teaching experience either as a preceptor for healthcare students or in higher education for PA/M.D. students

The degree requirement is necessary for accreditation purposes and to ensure candidates possess the specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities that can only be attained through a formal educational program at this level.

Preferred Qualifications:

ARC-PA accreditation experience

Earned doctoral degree in appropriate discipline

Five years of experience in clinical practice or higher education

Two years of teaching experience in PA/medical education

Strong interpersonal skills and excellent English-language written and verbal communication skills

Demonstrated instructional and presentation skills

Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

Ability to interface with students, faculty, staff, and community members with tact and clarity

Ability to work effectively and collegially with a variety of students and colleagues

Proficiency in MS Office Suite

Flexibility to work outside of regular hours and on weekends, as needed

Sponsorship eligibility:

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship
