DescriptionThe Department of Pediatrics at Tulane University in conjunction with the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children's Hospital in New Orleans seeks a Medical Director for the Sickle Cell Center of Southern Louisiana. A commitment to academic medicine and scholarship is expected.The Department of Pediatrics at Tulane is committed to providing excellence in education, clinical care, and research. The selected candidate will become actively involved in all aspects of teaching including medical students, residents, and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology fellows.As a Tulane University employee, the new faculty member will receive a negotiable salary commensurate with experience, and a fully comprehensive benefits package. Academic appointment will be at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor determined by the candidate's experience and scholarly achievements.Clinical/Administrative:•Partner with colleagues from LSU to lead and grow an established program at the Tulane Sickle Cell Center.•This critically important Center is a lifespan program, treating SCD patients of all ages. It is home to the only SCD transition clinic in the state of Louisiana•Outpatient clinics and inpatient consults at the nationally regarded Children's Hospital New Orleans - a dynamic and growing academic children's hospital•1 clinic day per week with hemophilia patients in the Louisiana Center for Bleeding and Clotting DisordersAcademic:•Grow Research - As Director of the Sickle Cell Center, you will take over as PI on open trials, have the opportunity to open new trials and develop investigator-initiated trials. In addition, Tulane has a strong presence in basic science research.•Teaching - Work as core faculty within the LSU Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Fellowship•Additional Pursuits - Tulane has a robust Public Health Program, and would love a candidate who has an interest in public health and improving access to care.
