Full time Arbor Hills, a Generations Healthcare facility, is seeking an Activity Director to join our team. Job Description:
The primary role of the Activity Director is to plan, organize, develop, and oversee the activities department, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. The director will work under the guidance of the Administrator and/or Activity Consultant to develop ongoing activity programs tailored to meet residents' interests and support their physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being based on comprehensive assessments. Essential Duties (include but are not limited to):
Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the facility's activity programs. Assist in developing, administering, and coordinating department policies and procedures. Stay informed of current regulations and standards, recommending policy updates as needed. Review and update department policies and procedures annually. Develop and implement policies for identifying residents' medically related activity needs. Participate in community planning related to the facility's interests and residents' needs. Contribute to discharge planning, activity care plan development, and resident assessments. Complete administrative tasks, including forms and reports, and submit them to the Administrator. Qualifications:
Minimum of two (2) years of college; a degree is preferred but not required. Qualified therapeutic recreation specialist or licensed activities professional eligible for certification. At least two (2) years of experience in social or recreation programs within the last five (5) years, including one (1) year full-time in a healthcare setting. Qualified occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant. Completion of a state-approved training course. Ability to make independent decisions when necessary. Knowledge of regulations governing activity services in nursing care facilities. Ability to provide age-appropriate care and interact tactfully with residents, families, staff, and external agencies.
