The Field Operations Manager will lead and be accountable for the franchise business results within an assigned geographical area, managing between 110-140 restaurants. The role focuses on operational execution, brand standards, customer experience, sales growth, and market share enhancement at the restaurant level. The manager will collaborate with locations and operators (District Managers, Directors of Area Operations, VP of Operations) to improve guest experience, sales, and overall business results, thereby increasing four-wall EBITDA. Demonstrating Wendy’s core values and leadership behaviors, the manager will build positive relationships with field leadership, franchise owners/operators, QA partners, and other stakeholders to drive sales, profit growth, new restaurant development, and excellent customer service.
The successful candidate can be based in or around San Francisco, San Jose, Sacramento, Stockton, or Modesto.
Responsibilities
- Operations Performance Ownership: Conduct Wendy’s Done Right Visits across approximately 120 locations, partnering with above-restaurant leadership to ensure proper system implementation for better customer and profit outcomes. Use the Model of Excellence scorecard for targeted coaching, training, and performance improvement in sales, profit, recruitment, EBITDAR, and guest experience. Use data insights and resources to improve franchisee capabilities, supporting field training managers and best practices. Lead quarterly business reviews and growth assessments with franchisees managing 1-5 locations.
- Leadership Development and Above Restaurant: Coach and train multi-unit leaders (District Managers and above) alongside franchisee leadership to ensure system adoption and high operational standards. Support succession planning and bench development.
- Training for Operational Excellence: Partner with Field Training Managers to identify and deliver in-restaurant training, focusing on operational excellence and growth initiatives. Ensure compliance with standards and franchisee accountability.
- Supporting New Restaurant Openings: Provide support for new openings, ensuring teams are trained and ready, and that restaurants meet Wendy’s standards before opening. Attend openings to provide on-site guidance and celebration.
Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Business, Finance, Supply Chain, or related fields, and at least 5 years of experience in multi-unit operations management, including P&L responsibility. Strong analytical, leadership, relationship-building, organizational, and communication skills are essential.
