Managing Partner - Equity Search Partners

Equity Search Partners has been retained on an Executive Vice-President of Finance position with a large, sophisticated Family Office here in Dallas/Fort Worth. Tremendous opportunity to play a critical role in working with a very well-respected Chief Financial Officer to contribute to the overall strategic direction of the family office. This position requires a strong financial leader with a deep understanding of financial management principles and the ability to drive performance improvement. This role includes preparing for the eventual succession of the CFO and ensuring the financial health of the family office.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the CFO in managing the financial operations of the family office, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting that meets the needs of stakeholders.
  • Prepare financial reports, forecasts, and budgets to support strategic decision-making and resource allocation, providing insights into financial performance and trends.
  • Oversee budgeting and financial planning processes, collaborating with department heads to align financial goals with operational needs and ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Ensure best practices in accounting, tax, compliance, operations, and financial systems; oversee accurate reporting and data quality for all assets and entities.
  • Provide leadership to financial function staff; hire, mentor, and develop a high-performing, client-focused team.
  • Lead special projects and initiatives as assigned by the CFO, contributing to the development of strategic financial plans and enhancing the overall financial management framework.
  • Support business interactions between family and affiliate entities, including cash flow and relationship structuring.
  • Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions to ensure financial stability and growth.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure compliance and optimize financial strategies, maintaining strong relationships with key external partners.
  • Build trusted relationships across generations; serve as advisor and thinking partner to the family.
  • Leverage technology to build scalable processes, ensure security and compliance, and manage all financial platforms and databases.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, ideally including time within a family office, private investment firm, or wealth management environment
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations, reporting standards, and best practices in financial management, with the ability to navigate complex financial issues.
  • Strategic thinker with practical execution capabilities; able to anticipate and respond with value-added solutions.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills; clear, consultative, and credible with multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across the organization and influence key stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making and the ability to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and accounting software, with advanced Excel skills and experience in financial analysis.
