Job Opportunity: AP/Staff Accountant (Contract)

A growing organization is looking to hire an AP/Staff Accountant to start next month. This role will cover a leave of absence for approximately 4–5 months and will report to the Assistant Controller.

Work Parameters: Ideally 4–5 days per week on-site in the company’s headquarters.

About the Role

We’re seeking a detail-oriented and proactive AP/Staff Accountant to join the Finance team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing the full accounts payable cycle, supporting general ledger tasks, and ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions. You’ll collaborate closely with the Senior Accountant and cross-functional teams, playing a key role in maintaining operational efficiency and financial accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Process and code vendor invoices in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Manage the AP inbox and address all requests and inquiries promptly.
  • Monitor and respond to internal and external AP-related tickets.
  • Review, process, and reconcile employee expense reports.
  • Perform light general ledger work, including account reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Support month-end close activities as assigned.
  • Assist with vendor management, including onboarding and communication.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve discrepancies and improve processes.
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records and documentation.
  • Utilize ERP and accounting tools for AP processing, GL entries, and reporting.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in accounts payable or staff accounting roles.
  • Experience with ERP and expense management systems preferred.
  • Strong understanding of AP processes and basic accounting principles.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other standard accounting tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
