Position Description
- Directs, plans, organizes and implements strategies, and initiatives to enhance and support the operations of the clinical laboratories to ensure high quality, efficient, and cost-effective operations.
- Directs and oversees laboratory specimen collection, specimen processing, on-site, point of care, and send-out testing services.
- Collaborates with facility administrative and clinical leadership in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures, programs, and initiatives that support the mission, growth and success of the institution.
- Provides direction to department personnel to achieve operational and technical objectives including workflow design, service quality, financial performance, regulatory compliance, personnel management, patient satisfaction, and employee engagement.
- Monitors employee and departmental performance to ensure adherence to policies and procedures, timelines and regulatory requirements
- Remains knowledgeable on new technologies, methods and approaches within the laboratory community
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in biological or chemical sciences, as defined by CLIA.
- Minimum of three combined years of leadership experience as a supervisor, manager or director at a moderate or high complexity laboratory.
- Masters Degree. One year experience as a Director.

California: CLS:CA
Nevada: CLS:NV or GS:NV
North Dakota: MT-L:ND
Tennessee: MT-L:TN
- MT or CLS or MLS certification required, ASCP or equivalent (per requirement sheet)
- Pathology Laboratory department (AU ):
- CT or HTL certification required, ASCP or equivalent

Dominican Hospital has forged significant partnerships with area hospitals to bring exceptional care to Santa Cruz County. The hospital offers a level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) through a partnership with Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford. Neurosurgery at Dominican is also offered through a partnership with Stanford Health Care.
